    The War is not Lost

Do the Democrats just want to give up? I dont understand how anyone would want to just start withdrawling troops when the job is not yet finished. We got into this situation to make it better for everyone and I dont think we should leave until it is done.
The only way you can say that the war is lost is if we give up?

How long you suggest we stay, 10-15 years and spend 300 Trillion dollars and then they still have a Civil War.

My opion is that we have spent too much time, money, and lives to just give up and leave without what we set out to accomplish.

We didn't have a goal that we could achieve to start with. That is the biggest problem. If we walked thru and searched the country, killed a few and left after finding Saddam , they would fear us. Now they know our Leader doesn't know how to wage a war. You can't fight a civil war for someone, without becoming one side or the other. Right now our troops are targets in a shooting gallery, with no goal. It is like the media. It is all one sided because the last few reporters that ventured out of the "Green Zone" were be-headed. We are beating our heads against a wall. There are no "good" Iraqis.

Re: The War is not Lost

The Iraqis have never known life outside of a dictatorship. The war in Afghanistan was warranted, but most people forget that Saddam didn't have anything to do with 9/11. We had no business going into Iraq to begin with. If any other country tried to do the things our government does they would be labeled agressors and war criminals. The war in Iraq was started by an egotistical President using trumped up charges to mislead the American people. We had no business there to begin with and we have no business there now. Sometimes you reap what you sow. 25 years ago our country financed Saddam's war with Iran as a way of holding down Iran's influence in the region. It worked..but now who has the most influence in the region?..and who will offset them without throwing the whole world into a war? It's a shame our troops have to fight for no good reason whatsoever. If you want to support the troops, support getting them home. That is in their best interest and our nation's. Let Bush's legacy be tarnished by his failure in foreign policy..hell, he can't even take care of the people living in this country when catastrophe strikes. Ask yourself, "Was the world a better place before Bush or now"? It's quite simple to answer that. The middle east was more stable with Saddam, even though he was an evil person. He kept his country under control (which is more than we can do) and he was enough of a threat in the region to discourage the aggressive regimes in that region. What Bush has done has produced a "clusterf*ck" that it will take years for the world to fix.

Re: The War is not Lost

I'm not trying to be a smarta$$..but folks that feel as strongly about getting this job done should maybe enlist and go over there and help the troops out. That's my take on it anyways. Since the Republican party is so adamant about staying until the "job is done"...enlist them too...all of em, every single last one. Then let's see how many folks want to stay until the "job is done".

Re: The War is not Lost

Well, it's kinda hypocritical to support putting troops in danger in that hell hole if you are able to be there helping but are not there helping. Being a former soldier, that is what makes me sick. I wasn't in a war zone but I can relate to what a soldier's daily life is. And, seeing and hearing folks go on and on about getting the job done and staying until it is done when they aren't there helping with it just gets under my skin. Especially if they have never enlisted or are as fit as anyone else to be over there helping with the task at hand. When a person realizes it's their a$$ in a sling too and not just everyone else's, opinions tend to change. If it was a good or noble cause or if the war was justified it would be different...but it's not.
